Via Joel Sherman on Twitter, the Yankees have reached a one year deal with Randy Winn.
Sherman states that the Yankees saw Winn as a better overall fit than Reed Johnson–although a Gardner/Winn platoon doesn’t have quite the same oomph as one might have hoped for.
At any rate, as they say, que será, será
One Response on Something about the Yankees and a must-Winn complex
Rebecca, I admired your recent guest post on Lohud. I only went there to read your post. As I’ve said before you deserve to make a lot of money with your talent. 2 thoughts on your post. First, when Lohud has guest posts I think they should disallow anonymous comments. You are put in a position of responding to someone who could be commenting from a mental hospital-it’s not right. My last thought, I got the idea you were connecting Obama’s election, what you felt was a historic or landmark nature of it, to a performance by Mariano. Regarding the election of Obama, the media created the idea that Obama’s election was historic because of his skin color. Major media figures (Tom Brokaw and others) said they knew nothing about the guy or his accomplishments if any but wanted him to be president. Fine. A pitcher’s work, in this case Rivera’s, has been out there for the world to see for many years, not suffering, certainly being paid, but nonetheless achieving recognition only for his accomplishments, both negative and positive. Baseball media that influence elections to AL MVP and Cy Young have chosen to keep his name clear of those historic landmarks. This is not a secret. Some of them have written about it. The media’s coverage of him was great last fall but his work alone decided that outcome. If Obama’s election was historic, it was for a different reason than a performance of a long time pitcher. Anyhow, thanks again for your work, I know you’ll be rich and famous if you choose to.
