Just imagine if Greinke pitched on another team–any other team–besides Kansas City, what he’d do then. To put it in perspective–Greinke won 16 games on a team that won less than 70 games total. Felix Hernandez, of the Seattle Mariners, is an absolute stud and had an ERA below 3.00–that’s good, right? Greinke’s ERA was 2.16, and in case we forget, he did that while pitching in the American League.
Greinke’s margin of victory is reported to be 54 points.
Good.
That’s the way it should be.

That is absolutely the way it should be, but I think the “baseball writers only care about wins” argument falls a little flat
since 2000, there have been 19 Cy Young awards given out, and the league leader in wins has won the Cy Young…just 8 times. and of those 8, at least five were deserved (very often the league leader in wins really was the best pitcher in the league–witness Cliff Lee in 2008, Peavy in 2007, Johan in 2006, Webb in 2006 with the six-way tie for the league-lead in wins, Randy Johnson in 2002…). Maybe the argument bashing the BBWAA is just a strawman

For me, he surely deserved to have this recognition. Well, he’s my favorite. Knowing that he goes get an award like this is also rewarding to some sports fans. Thanks and keep up the good work here.
