Game 5 of the ’01 WS was the best sporting event I have ever been to. I was sitting upper deck right field and the O’Neil chant did sent chills down my spine. When Brosius hit the HR you could actually feel the stadium move.

When I think of the 2000 World Series I always think of that leadoff home run Jeter hit in Game 4. He was awesome in that series.

the 01 ALDS featured the TWO best plays of Jeter’s career (the catch in game 5 was better than the flies into the stands catch. Terrence Long hit both of them too–go figure). Also, the best part about the O’Neill chanting was that the Yankees were losing the game at the time.

Oh, absolutely. I’m not saying your choices were “wrong”, it’s just that I looked at the whole decade very differently.

Wow, I could not disagree more about that Subway Series. Fist of all even though it lasted five games it was very entertaining. All the games were close. The most memorable moment was not the Piazza incident, it was the game 1 walkoff! Second, I honestly don’t care whther they were lucky or good. What I DO care about is that they were WS champions, and to me every time the Yankees win a WS it ranks the same, although I concede that the 09′ bombers were a MUCH better team than the ’00 edition.

In fact, my list in general is very different, but for comparison’s sake I’ll use all of your choices:

10. Aaron Boone plays a pickup game of basketball-I love that they got A-Rod, but I hated that a player had to get hurt, and seriously, for it to happen. So it’s 10th.
9. Jobamania-It was fun, but in the end as a result of it…nothing happened. At least, they got knocked out in the 1st round again.
8. Jeter flies into the stands-This took plae in one of the greatest regular season games ever played, but it was still a regular season game, and in the end the Red Sox ultimately won.
7. Boston Massacres-I was going to rank Jeter’s dive higher, but this year’s Boston massacre was very important to the playoff race, and thus, in my mind, a better moment.
6. Goodbye, hello-The ending to the old stadium was a disappointment, but the opening of this stadium was great fun. Still, all the other momnts I would rank higher.
5. Mo’s save and RBI-How cool was that?
4. Nine innings from Ground Zero-The end result was bad, but those two games were as incredible as any I’ve ever seen.
3. Babe, Bucky, Boone, any questions?-WHAT A GAME. I still can’t believe it happened.
2. The Subway Series-We beat the Mets and won a WS! Awesome, awesome, awesome.
1. 27-This year was so fun with the walkoffs, and this team met VERY high expectations to win the Fall Classic. This year was just a blast.
