Bob Sheppard, the long time PA announcer for the New York Yankees, officially announced his retirement. He had not done a game at the Stadium since 2007.
A fixture since the early 1950s, he has been dubbed by some as “the Voice of God”, and Derek Jeter still refuses to walk up to anyone else’s calling his name than Sheppard.
We can only wish the best of luck in all of his endeavors, and thank him for so many memories.
